Subject: fly-by rarities and a fallout

NJBirds:

Today, Monday, Michael O'Brien was manning the Avalon (Cape May County) seawatch and had a fly-by Sabine's Gull at 8:30 AM. I would assume the chances of this bird being seen again are about zilch! Thank goodness for the Merrill Creek Reservoir bird!

A little over a week ago, two American White Pelicans were reported to be flying over Bivalve, Cumberland County. I hear second-hand that they were seen again, in flight, there over this past weekend.

Today, there was a huge wave of birds in Cape May, with thousands of Yellow-rumpeds, many hundreds of Palms (about 80 percent "Yellow" Palms), sparrows, flickers, kinglets, and phoebes. It has been a very good October overall here for Yellow-rumpeds, Palms, flickers, and phoebes. Also has been very good for White-crowned Sparrows recently, and today's total here is 80 and climbing.
