Subject: Wood Stork over Avalon
From 9-9:30 AM this morning (Monday) Michael O'Brien, who was manning the Avalon seawatch, spotted a Wood Stork soaring around just inland from him. The bird was not making much headway in any particular direction, but finally was last seen perhaps drifting somewhat south or southwestward. It has not been seen again as of 11:30AM. (I tried scanning for the bird for 30 minutes from Stone Harbor Blvd. with no luck, and the hawkwatchers at Cape May Point have yet to spot it). IF the bird is refound and appears to be remaining in a particular area for any appreciable length of time, I will send out another message.
