Subject: White Ibis in Cape May

NJBIRDS:

An adult White Ibis was found today by visiting birder John Pilgrim along Ocean Drive between Cape May and Wilwood Crest. It has remained long enough to be seen by a good number of birders. The bird has been seen in marsh pools on both sides of the road just after crossing the 50-cent toll bridge and before one gets to Two-Mile Landing and the Coast Gueard Ponds. A White Ibis of unknown age was reported farther up the coast at Nummy's Island by visiting birders on two occasions since late April, but details on that bird were quite sketchy, and several attempts to re-find it there have been unsuccessful. So the same bird may be wandering around along the Cape May County coast.

Yesterday's Cave Swallow found by George Armistead at Bunker Pond/Hawkwatch Platform remained all afternoon, but I do not know if it has been seen today or not.

Lastly, Jim Dowdell had a single Black-necked Stilt yesterday about a half-mile or more north of Reed's Beach--in an innaccessible area (he was doing shorebird surveys from a plane).
