It appears as though there may be as many as three White-faced Ibis in southern NJ. The most reliable/seeable bird continues to be the one at the pond along the road to Reed's Beach in Cape May County, which was still present today (Sunday). It is most often seen between about 11:45 and 4:15, but the exact times it visits and for how long seems to vary from day to day, and it can be missed. A second bird, a first-year individual, was seen at Bivalve in Cumberland County several days ago. And then yesterday, Saturday, a bird was seen at Bivalve (north side of impoundment there) by one of the same people who had initially found the earlier bird, but who noted that this bird was clearly different and was "now" an adult with lots of white facial feathering, which the previous bird lacked. So it appears that there are three birds present in southern NJ.
Up to 2 Mississippi Kites have been seen the past few days in Cape May between the Beanery and the State Park. Another Miss. Kite was seen in the past couple days around MP 80 on the Garden State Parkway.
