NJBIRDS:
Concerning the White-faced Ibis, first the good news, then the bad news.
The good news is that there now may well be FOUR birds present at the two locations, as both the adult and a [new] first-year bird (which lacks the white face but has the red eye and knees and pinkish facial skin) were seen at the pond on the road to Reed's Beach on Monday.
Now the bad news: It seems that when the limited available parking along the side of the road next to that pond is full, that a number of non-thinking or simply inconsiderate birders have parked across the street in front of the homes either ON people's lawns or BLOCKING their driveways. This is starting to cause some friction with some of the local homeowners. (The same problem happened two summers ago when we had a Little Stint in Cape May.) Please park only along the pond edge, and fully off the road. We do not want to get this area posted as off limits or "No Parking" in the future.
In other news, a Roseate Tern was seen briefly Monday morning at the South Cape May Meadows, and up to 2 Mississippi Kites continue in the Cape May area as well as of today.
