NJBIRDS,

A Curlew Sandpiper was found by Vince Elia at Thompson's Beach (Cumberland County) today at 1 PM on the receding tide. The bird was in full breeding plumage.

From the parking area at the end of Thompson's Beach Road, walk out the dike (the former road, now abandoned) to a point where a creek channel goes under it in a pipe. At 1 PM the bird was here. (Be aware that the tide changes quickly and birds move around a lot at Thompson's Beach).

I don't have an atlas at hand to give coordinates, but Thompson's Beach is near Heislerville, NJ which is reached via Glade Road from Rte 47.

A tide chart can be seen at http://tbone.biol.sc.edu/tide/tideshow.cgi?site=East+Point%2C+Maurice+River+Cove%2C+Delaware+Bay%2C+New+Jersey
