Subject: Possible Masked Booby, Island Beach

NJ birders,

This morning about 9 AM George Wenzelburger observed a bird he identified as a juvenile Masked Booby at Island Beach State Park. The bird came in toward land from offshore, where it was foggy, thenflew back out to sea. Wilson's Storm-Petrels were also present near the shore.

Details will be submitted to the NJBRC, and if accepted this would be the first state record. Observers at the shore will want to be on the alert...
