Subject: Ash-thr Fly and N. shrike in Cape May
On Friday morning, Nov 12, an Ash-throated Flycatcher was found in the dune scrub and junipers between the magnacite plant and Davie's Lake, north of the concrete ship, in Cape May. However, later on it was watched flying way to the south and landing in the area of the end of Alexander Ave. in Cape May Point. While people were looking for the flycatcher they found an immature Northern Shrike in the dune scrub and junipers at the northwest corner of the magnacite property. The bird soon disappeared, but is assumed to be somewhere in that general area, which is excellent habitat for the species.
Also, as of Thursday, there were still about 15 Cave Swallows in the Cape May area.
