JerseyBirds is a LISTSERV mailing list hosted at Princeton University. It is a discussion list for people interested in bird distribution and migration, bird sightings, bird watching, bird finding, and rare birds in the state of New Jersey, USA. It is assumed that if you are interested in captive birds, falconry, or hunting you will prefer a different list.
JerseyBirds is not a bird club. JerseyBirds is not connected in any way with web sites at www.jerseybirds.com, www.jerseybirds.co.uk, or www.newjerseybirds.com.
JerseyBirds is a successor to the NJ-Bird-Chat list, which operated with the support of National Audubon Society from October 2000 to February 2001. When NAS support ceased, Princeton University offered a new list home. The listowners, Tyler Bell and Jane Kostenko, are the same and the subscription list was moved to the new server.

Other list owners are:
Tom Bailey ammodramus at comcast.net
Laurie Larson llarson at princeton.edu (ex officio)
To post messages on the list, send them in e-mail to this address (Capitalization does not matter.): JerseyBirds@princeton.edu
A message sent to the above address is then sent to all subscribers of the list. If you "reply" to a list message, it will be sent to all subscribers.
To stop receiving list messages, send this command in an e-mail message: UNSUBSCRIBE JerseyBirds to listserv@lists.Princeton.edu
Archives of the list are available as "log files," which are large text files containing all the messages posted in one week. The names of log files reflect the year and covered, e.g. a file called "jerseybi log0102" contains files from the second month of 2001.
To retrieve a list of the log files available from the list archives, send email to listserv@lists.princeton.edu and make the body of your note: get jerseybirds filelist
To retrieve log files from the list archives, send email to listserv@lists.princeton.edu and make the body of your note: get jerseybirds lognnnn (but substitute the correct numbers for nnnn).
Note that the list server does not currently support a Web interface, so you will need to issue commands by email. The lists are to be moved to a new list server this summer, at which time a Web interface should become available.
