Thayer's Gull:
A bird believed to be a first winter Thayer's Gull was seen on 4 Feb. and 6 Feb. at Sandy Hook; it was compared to first winter Iceland Gulls and photographed. Confirmation and detailed descriptions from as many observers as possible are welcomed by the NJ Committee and observers are encouraged to look for this bird.

Townsend's Solitaire: The Townsend's Solitaire was seen at the usual place on East Point Road, Heislerville Wildlife Management Area, on Sat. 6 Feb.

Barrow's Goldeneye: The drake Barrow's Goldeneye was present on Sat. and Sun., 6-7 Feb., in Horseshoe Cove, Sandy Hook. Also in the area: a Glaucous Gull was at Oceanic Bridge on Sat., and Snow Buntings and all 3 Scoters were seen on the Hook Sunday.

Offshore: Bogan's "Atlantis" is running morning whale-watch trips from Brielle on Saturdays and Sundays about 9 AM. On Sat. 6 Feb. Razorbills, Kittiwakes, and Fin Whales were seen. Call 732 528-6620 for info.
