DO NOT INSERT DEVICE yet.

Turn on the EMP-20 Programmer. There is a power light next to the ZIF socket.

Set the "T" switch on the shelf next to the programmer to your computer.

There is a fan underneath the EMP-20 programmer that must have proper clearance to prevent overheating. Please make sure all four feet under the programmer are sitting flat on the shelf.

When the Intro Screen appears, press the Space Bar.

The Attempting to Establish Communication Screen will appear and should vanish momentarily.

If you see the Unable to Find Programmer Screen the EMP20 software will enter DEMO Mode. Press the ESCape key twice, then press "Y". Make sure the EMP-20 Programmer is turned on, there is a power LED in the lower left corner of the programmer. Double click the Shortcut again.

Under Manufacturer click Lattice (??), then under Device click GAL16V8 (1).

When you return to the Main Menu make sure the correct Manufacturer and Device appear in the upper right corner of the screen. After the Device name the Family Module identification appears, (03B). Make sure the proper Family Module is installed in the EMP-20

Once you are sure the Manufacturer, Device and Family Module are correct,

PLUG IN YOUR DEVICE following the diagrams on the EMP-20, the bottom of the Device must be in the lowest ZIF socket location.

Set the File Type to JEDEC.

Set File Name to your file.

Click Read File into Buffer.

Click Program with Selected Algorithm.

When the Programming the Device screen appears press Enter.

If the software asks if you want to Patch the Existing Data press "Y".

Turn off the programmer when done.
