Creep Considerations in Design

· Aircraft gas turbines are devices in which creep poses design constraints.

From: Ashby and Jones,
"Engineering Materials I,"
Pergamon (1986)

· The specific fuel consumption as a function of turbine inlet temperature decreases as temperature increases. High inlet temperatures are favored.
· The turbofan power output also increases with turbine inlet temperature, also favoring high turbine temperatures.
