Kinetics and Microstructural Control

· Welds in precipitation hardened alloys will also alter the microstructure of the starting material in the weld region.

· Overaged and solution treated zones will be formed in these age-hardened alloys as a result of fusion welding. Oxides may also form unless inert gas welding techniques are used.
· Mechanical properties will be altered in the weld region as a result of these changes.
