Another hysteria-filled Mafia evening! 1st game: 12 players 3 Mafia 1 Vigilante 1 Angel 1 Archangel 1 "Tooth Fairy" 1 Mason 4 Civilians Civilians managed to lynch the Vigilante the first day, which is somewhat conventional :-) On the second day, we put Pallav, the Angel, on trial. He starts his defense by saying: "I am innocent. Vincent is the Angel and cleared me." He then promptly changed his statement: "Ok, actually, *I* am the Angel, and Vincent is clear, so you might as well lynch me now since I am going to die tonight." Starting then, everybody was quite confused, especially since I (Vincent) started to add some more confusing statements about who the Angel are (no typo :-) At the end of that day, during the Turbo phase, there were 3 votes against me, which did not make sense, since I was either a cleared civilian or the Angel, as far as everybody could tell. I thus named my three accusers as Mafia: Fey, Gasper and Abi. Jack: "Who?" Vincent: "Him, him and her." Jack casts the deciding vote on Fey, and 1 Mafia is down! I die the next night. On the third day, Jack announces my dying words: "He named Fey, Gasper and Janice as the 3 Mafia." Thus the mob proceeds to lynching Gasper (who was indeed Mafia), after questioning Janice. The Angel, still alive thanks partly to the Archangel, checks Janice, and announces the following morning that she is indeed Mafia. She is lynched, civilians win, and everybody congratulates me on my cunning sense of observation! Well, Jack deserves partial credit, since I had named Abi, and not her neighbour Janice :-) 2nd game: 13 players 3 Mafia 1 Devil 1 Angel 4 pairs of Avenging Siblings (when say the 6 of diamonds dies at night, the 6 of hearts can then act as the Vigilante for the following night only, to avenge his sibling's death. And vice-versa, and similarly for the 4's, etc.) After the 1st night, Jack, the 6 of diamonds dies. The 6 of hearts will become the Vigilante for the next night. For some reason, suspicions go on Janice, who claims innocence, and also that she would go ahead and warn up some slices of pizza if she gets lynched. Amazingly enough, 7 hands get up, and she is promptly lynched as the "First Day Random Lynching". She was the Devil, thus not bad from the civilians! On the second nights: Mafia kills the Angel (Kenny), and Carmen, as the Vigilante, kills Scott, the 7 of hearts. As the Moderator, I rule that there is no way of telling (from the player's stand point) who was killed by whom, and thus the 7 of diamonds will get the chance to avenge his brother's death. This can become problematic... we could get to a point where we have 2 Vigilantes acting at the same time! Quite bloody indeed! Civilians lynch Adriaan, a Mafia member, on the second day. Mafia kills the new vigilante (Amit), who kills Dave, a civilian on the third night. On the third day, the "Avenging Siblings" concept falls down. Pallav claims he will kill Russell, who is acting suspiciously, the next night, thus claiming to be Dave's sibling. Then Abi claims to be part of a pair which still has a sibling. After a short reflection, Julie comes forward as Abi's sibling. They finally manage to convince Jack's sibling (Carmen) to come forward as "The Acting Vigilante From The Second Night". Thus, all the civilians know each other without having to claim directly which card they are, and Mafia is obviously doomed! Or, are they? After much discussion, Russell is lynched, and only Fey is left as a Mafia member... Fourth night: Fey, seeing that he has lost, decides to not kill anyone. Pallav, wanting to confuse people, kills Carmen instead of Fey. Now, everybody is very confused, especially Fey, who lost the thread of discussion sometime during the third day. Pallav looks incredibly shifty, and admits to be a liar, thus Abi and Julie command Fey to lynch him... 1 civilian down! Fifth night: Fey kills Julie. Sixth night: Abi and Fey kill each other. It's a draw! And that after Abi figured out how the game was flawed into allowing Civilians a sure win! Morale of the story: Never have a game where everybody is a special character otherwise you get a very on-sided endgame! Perhaps Avenging Siblings are better suited when combined with unpaired civilian.
