I am interested in the proximate (ecological/immediate) & ultimate (evolutionary) factors that enable organisms to control their life cycle and in the life-history evolution of tropical birds.

I am currently focusing on the molting and breeding periods of Neotropical birds. Ultimately my research aims to understand if there exists a trade-off between these two events in Neotropical birds, and if so how are they regulated and controlled by physiology and environment.  Also, could the way in which different bird species carry on their annual cycle promote the high diversity in tropical birds?

Currently I am a post-doc with
Michaela Hau at the  Max Planck Institut für Ornithologie.
