It was a year after the photo to the left was taken that "our darling Jimmy" became "Jim" to me.  His mother Molly was seriously ill, so I had flown to Denver to bring him and his two younger brothers to Princeton to live with me until she recovered.  Molly was raising the three boys on her own and had very little money.  She had managed to buy a small house in a new development but hadn't yet found the money to buy grass seed, so their yard was still just dirt.  I discovered that Jim had been going out on his bike twice a day to ride up and down the streets of their development looking for squares of sod that had fallen off trucks making deliveries to the other new houses.  He had managed to sod a good-sized area of their yard.  It was then that I realized what a responsible person had come into the world.  MWV.
