Sunday Hike up Rt. 78 to third parking lot. Take Colgate Lake Trail (CL-Yellow) to the

easternmost, un-named lake along the East Kill stream. Note: easternmost lake on

map is actually a swampy area.

Princeton, East Kill stream, spring on Dutcher Notch Trail (DN-Yellow) 0.35mi from

jct CL/DN

Campsite1:
in field where trail takes a SHARP right. Be sure to camp at least 150' from trail and

water.
Monday There's NO WATER between CL-Y and North Lake. Fill up before you leave. Follow

CL-Y to junction w/ Escarpment Trail (ES-Blue). 360degree view at North point. Look

for Albany to the NE. From here, switch to MAP 40. Follow ES-B south. [Optional

dayhike on yellow side trail to Sunset Rock] Take ES-B past North Lake to South Mtn,

site of former Kaaterskill Hotel. [See pp.137-142 of Long Path Guide.] Camp on top of

South Mtn.

near South Mtn, south of Kaaterskill Hotel site. No camping on top of South Mtn.
Tuesday Take the LP where it veers SE from the ES(B). Descend South Mtn on the LP,

following the Sleepy Hollow Horse Trail as it switchbacks down to 23A. [See pp.133-

137] Turn right onto 23A. Then left on Malden Ave. Steep climb on LP up to cut-off

for Poet's Ledge trail (PL-Yellow). Look for a good campsite in this area. [Optional

dayhike to Poet's Ledge]

stream on horse trail, falls 0.5mi past PL-Y cut-off.
Campsite3:
near jct PL(Y) trail. At least 150' from trail and water. (C82 will be in the area).
Wednes Follow LP west past Wildcat and Buttermilk Falls. LP turns SW up Kaaterskill, then

sharp turn SE. [Optional dayhike up Kaaterskill: Take snowmobile trail (orange) to blue

cut-off trail up High Peak.] Continue on LP through Pine Plains, a hemloch forest that

levels off at 3,000ft. Trail descends and crosses a couple bridges. Look for a

campsite near HP-Y cutoff trail. [Optional Dayhike on HP-Y to Huckleberry Point]

~1 mi N. of Rt 16. be sure to camp 150' from trail and water sources.
Thursday Descend on LP to Rt 16. [See pp.127-132 of Long Path Guide.] Follow Rt 16 west

0.1mi. Turn left onto LP (green markers within Plattle Clove Preseve). Hike south on

LP to Overlook Trail (OL-Blue.) Take OL-B south to Echo Lake Trail (EL-Yellow.) Take

EL-Y to Echo Lake.

Campsite5:
Echo Lake lean-to (with C21).
Friday GET AN EARLY START to save time for fire tower. Hike out EL-Y to OL-B. Go SW on OL-B to Overlook Spur Trail (OS-Red). Drop

packs at ruins and dayhike up to fire tower for views. Continue SW on OS-R to Meads parking lot. SUPPORT will shuttle group from

Meads Mtn Rd. to the Bus. Be on time for the shuttle.
