Entrance to southern end of AT is across Rt 11/30. It is the most dangerous road

crossing we have on OA! Please be very very careful! Follow OA protocols and cross

one at a time. Hike to Spruce Peak Shelter!

Hike south on the Long Trail to north shore of Stratton Pond, camp FEE FOR

CAMPING; nice shelter! Show the caretaker the invoice and explain that we paid in

advance.

LONG DAY - Hike south on the Long Trail over Stratton Mtn. and camp at Story Spring

Shelter. If desired, can take shortcut around Stratton mountain (saves 2.5 miles) by

taking Stratton Pond Trail instead of Long Trail: Stratton Pond trail 3.8 miles to Kelly

Stand Road, turn right and then left down USFS Rd. 71. (71 is a little bit west of the

end of Stratton Pond trail, it then intersects with the Long trail again after 0.5 miles)

Hike south on the Long Trail to Rt. 9 for pickup; steep downhill, be careful! To get to the parking lot, go right after crossing the bridge

and pass latrines on your right. Parking lot should be visible. Do NOT cross road to turn around (stay in lot).
