Sunday From the pull-off, you will see trailers and restaurant. Hike N on 381 to sign for

trailhead parking. Take right up the hill past cemetary (on right). Total little less

than a mile. Find yellow gate marking trailhead. This is zero-mile marker. Hike

NE on LHT past Lick Run to mile 6.3. Ohiopyle Shelter Area is just S of trail

along Camp Run at mile 6.3.

Monday Hike northeast on LHT, cross Maple Summit Road (mile 11.2) and continue to

Rt. 653 Shelter Area at mile 18.5. This is a long day so get up early and give

yourself plenty of time.

Tuesday Hike north on LHT to Grindle Ridge Shelter Area south of trail at mi 24.2 (follow

blue blazed trail to shelter area). Be careful crossing Rt. 653. Lots of interesting

rock outcropings and an exceptional overlook at mile 21.3.

Wednes Hike north on LHT to Rt. 31 Shelter Area at mile 32.5. Lots of good views and

highest elevations on the whole trail BUT also very little water. Fill up before

leaving camp.Watch for lookout tower at mi 26.6 just east of the trail. Around

mile 26, look for the pond -- great swimming! Trail passes through Seven

Springs Ski Area at miles 27 and 28 - great lunch spot at top.

Rt. 31 Shelter Area at mile 32.5 (past Rt. 31) -- SITE 1
Thursday Hike north on LHT to Turnpike Shelter Area at mile 38.2. After steep descent into

stream valley at mile 35, look for huge boulder - great spot for lunch! Cross

bridge over turnpike at mile 36.7 and take immediate right turn down

switchbacks to avoid snowmobile trail. Fill up water before reaching camp if

possible - water at shelter not great.

Shafer Run, Clear Run, pump at shelter. Fill up at streams after Turnpike if

possible - water at shelter not great.

Friday Hike north on LHT to the road heading west (left) from the trail just before mile post 40. Hike west about 0.2 mile to four way

intersection with parking lot at southwest corner of intersection.
