Sunday Trailhead may be difficult to find. Go towards the chairlift, blazes will be on the left,

before the crest of the hill. Follow yellow blazes starting at east end of Seven Springs

upper parking lot. Hike SOUTH on Laurel Highlands Trail through Seven Springs Ski

Area to Grindle Ridge (Seven Springs) Shelter Area at mile 24.0 (follow blue blazes to

shelter area).

Monday Hike north on LHT to Rt. 31 Shelter Area at mile 32.5. First 3.5 miles you will retrace

your path from Sunday. Good views and highest elevations on the whole trail BUT

also very little water. Fill up before leaving camp. Watch for lookout tower at mi 26.6

just east of the trail. Hike through Seven Springs Ski Area.

Tuesday Hike north on LHT to side trail leading south to Turnpike Shelter Area at mile 38.2. After

steep descent into stream valley at mile 35, look for 6 ft high boulder - great lunch

spot! Cross bridge over turnpike at mile 36.7 and take immediate right turn down

switchbacks to avoid snowmobile trail. The blue blazed trail to the campsite may be

ealier than indicated on the map.

Wednes Hike north on LHT to Rt. 30 Shelter Area at mile 46.5. Check out famous rock

formation called Beam Rocks near mile 41. Look at trail guide pg. 97 for description of

confusing stream/trail intersection near mile 43. Campsite may be further than

indicated on map.

Thursday Hike north on LHT to Rt. 271 Shelter Area at mile 56.9. Several small streams btw

miles 46 and 49. FILL UP HERE - rest of trail may be dry until shelter. Follow side trail

that leads to both the parking lot and the shelter area (about 0.7 mi long). The side trail

to the shelter leaves the parking lot side trail about 0.1 miles from the lot. Possibly

fill chicken before leaving Rt. 30 shelter. Water pump is difficult to find, it is not near

latrines, but uphill from them.
