Sunday Find AT east of Church. (When exiting church parking lot, turn right on Rt. 8. About

0.4 miles down Rt. 8 is the AT entrance.) Hike South on AT over the Cobbles to

Crystal Mountain Campsite, camp. Watch for sidetrail to reach campsite (it is not

marked). If you hit the powerlines, you've gone too far. Potentially little water, so be

sure to have full nalgenes and maybe a chicken or two after getting off bus.

Side trail at Crystal Mountain campsite, dropoff site also (sign for water is after

campsite), potentially three streams between cheshire and campsite.

Crystal Mountain Campsite ( difficult to find, sign for campsite should be after

overgrown Fire Rd. on right.)
Monday GET OUT EARLY! Road crossings take time and cross carefuly. Hike south on AT

across Rt. 9 through Dalton. At the trailhead in Dalton, follow the white blazes down

Gulf Road, cross Park Ave to High Street. Follow High Street until it dead-ends at the

jct of Rts. 8 and 9. Cross intersection (BE CAREFUL) and go East on Rt. 8. Turn

Right onto Depot Street. From end of Depot St, cross Housatonic St onto dirt lumber-

company driveway. Continue on AT to Kay Wood Shelter. Side trail leads 0.2 miles to

Kay Wood Lean-to.

Wednes Hike south on AT to Upper Goose Pond camping area (side trail to camping area).

Donation was already made to the MA AT committee. Show Mary Pat Yarusites (the

caretaker) the letter enclosed in packet from Debbie Klaber if necessary. ONLY ONE

PRINCETON GROUP CAN CAMP HERE AT A TIME.

Thursday LONG DAY! Take AT south to over Baldy Mountain, cross Main Road in Tyringham

over Cobble Hill (NO CAMPING ON COBBLE HILL) to Hop Brook area, camp in the

meadow before the ascent up to Jerusalem Road. You can camp either .25 or 2 miles

from Main Rd. Steep and slippery when wet - BE CAREFUL. At camp - beware

porcupines.

Shaker Campsite. (Or, like '01, camp at pipeline clearing 1.5 miles before Shaker.)
Friday Get out early because hike may take longer than expected. Hike back north on AT until you reach the jct with Jerusalem Road. Take a

left. Walk 1/2 mile down Jerusalem Rd until you get to intersection with Main Road in Tyringham. The Post Office/Library is the big

stone building on the Left.
