One
of the main classroom facilities is McCosh Hall, which contains several
large lecture halls and many small seminar rooms. These classrooms are also
commonly used for exams, which are taken according to Princeton's
student-run Honor Code.
One unique feature of
Princeton is that all faculty members are expected to teach as well as
engage in scholarly research. There are approximately 700 full-time faculty
members in addition to 300 part-time and visiting professors, creating a
student-faculty ratio of about 6:1.
The English department is
housed in McCosh and the history department works out of Dickinson Hall.
The green area in front of these two buildings, McCosh Courtyard, is a
popular place for precepts to meet on sunny days.
