The four essays are rendered in pdf format via the LATEX package hyperref.sty, developed by Sebastian Rahtz. An up-to-date version of the pdf reader can be obtained for free from Adobe. Each document features hot links from citations, numbered formulas, sections, and footnotes to their referents. (Click go back to return.) Sections and specific pages can be accessed through the bar at the left of each page. Additional conveniences will come to light through exploration.

The present version of hyperref works amazingly well but it is not perfect. If you encounter problems opening a file in your browser, try right-clicking on its link and downloading to your disk. Bug reports will be appreciated but we cannot guarantee remedies. In case of internet problems, we will be glad to send the essays via email or on diskette by postal mail.

It will also be our pleasure to send LATEX source files that reveal how the documents were produced.
