Mind and Body by Ashley Lefrak ’01

Monday, February 12, marked the start of the physical education department’s spring schedule of fitness and wellness programs, held mainly in Dillon Gym. Christine Tan, a graduate student in the Art and Archaeology department, stretched out in Iyengar Yoga, a class described as a vigorous and precise introduction to the primary postures that are designed to increase strength, enhance flexibility, and relieve stress. That’s just why Tan, who has taken yoga classes before, signed up for this one. Instructor Laura Shiels, who’s been teaching yoga for 12 years, says, “It’s nice to remind students that they’ve got bodies.”
