By-Line Funding Grants from the USG Projects Board

Who is eligible for by-line Funding?

Organizations requesting funds for week-long events, month long events, or other events of extended duration may apply for by-line funding.

Can a group apply for regular funding and by-line funding in the same semester?

Yes. Groups applying for both regular and by-line funding during the same semester must submit a copy of their semester budget and their event budget with each application.

What happens if a group receives by-line funding, but then realizes that they will need additional funds?

If by-line funding is granted for a particular event, the organization may not apply for additional funds for that event unless the Projects Board Chairs and the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students agree that all alternate funding sources have been explored and exhausted. Any additional funds granted cannot exceed 20 percent of the Board’s original grant.

What happens once a group receives by-line funding?

If by-line funding is granted by the Board and approved by the USG Senate, the event organizers must meet with the Chairs and ODUS to discuss the progress of the event no later than three (3) weeks prior to the date of the event. (NOTE: for spring of 2000, we realize this may not be possible because of the late deadline. We will work with each individual group if the three week deadline is not possible.)

What must a group do after the event?

After receiving funds, every group must file a detailed report summarizing the event and highlighting, among other things, the approximate number of undergraduates involved, the amount requested and received from funding sources other than the Board, and any additional costs or savings incurred by the organization. Failure to do so will result in the automatic indefinite forfeiture of the organization’s right to request funds from the Projects Board. The organization’s right to request funds may only be reinstated by a majority vote of the USG Senate.
