Please take a minute to show your support...

(If you don't feel that you know enough about this, click here for a brief description of the issues)

We, the undersigned, believe that considering the environmental and social impact of the policies of corporations in which one is invested is essential to being a responsible investor and a moral duty that Princeton University must actively address with respect to its endowment. Particularly, we believe that active and informed proxy voting is an important means to this end.

Therefore, we, the undersigned, lend our full support to the creation of a proxy voting advisory committee at Princeton to address this moral duty that ownership of public securities necessarily entails. This committee should be composed of at least students, faculty, and alumni, and annually address the “social issues” proxy proposals that arise in Princeton’s investments. After careful deliberation, the committee would recommend to the board of trustees how to vote in a manner consistent with the University and University community’s values.

We believe that such a committee should be designed to produce the significant benefit of educating its members and the University community as a whole about the ethical consequences of the decisions which investors and public corporations make on both people and the environment.

I would seriously consider serving on a proxy voting advisory committee in the future (checking this box does NOT commit you to anything, it's only a way to gauge interest)
