Liberty Science Center's Partners in Science
Partners in Science is an extraordinary mentoring opportunity for both scientists and high school students. Researchers inspire and shape the minds of future scientists, technical experts and policymakers by exposing students to current questions driving scientific discovery. Students gain hands-on research experience and presentation skills, building science knowledge and enhancing science fair projects and college applications. Developing a network of advisors and lifelong connections also helps students define and focus their career goals.
The mentor is expected to advise and direct the student’s research project (the student may also be supervised by qualified laboratory personnel such as postdoctoral or graduate students). The mentor will provide the student with the space in which to work and any necessary supplies, equipment and materials needed to carry out the project. The high school student will work for 8 weeks and present his or her work at a Liberty Science Fair Symposium. For those familiar with REU, this program is very similar.
