Information for International Students Interested in Participating in REU
Eligibility
The program is open to international students, however there is less funding available for non-citizens and non-residents. Each international application is handled on a case-by-case basis; however it is likely the offer for stipend offer will not be as listed on the website. We encourage you to apply.
Visas
You will need a visa. PRISM/PCCM does not secure visas for students. If you already have a visa, please enter the type of visa on your application. If you plan to apply for a visa, please enter "will apply". Please note that we do not offer any visa services and that the process for getting a visa can take a while. We send out acceptance notices in late March through early April.
Known form issues:
We are aware that our current form is not compatible with foreign addresses, phone numbers and grading systems. We are in the process of updating our application system, but this will not be complete until applications are open for summer 2010. We appologize for the inconvenience. Below are a few workarounds for known issues.
GPA
If your country's education system does not use the American 4.0 grade point average system (GPA), you may enter 0.00 for your GPA. Please do not convert other grading systems to a 4.0 system. It will not accurately reflect your performance. Your transcripts will be sufficient to determine your academic standing.
International Addresses
For the field "State" in any of the addresses requested on the application, please enter XX if the address is not within the US.
International Phone Numbers
If you are unable to enter your phone number in the format requested by the form, please enter (123)123-1234. Please email us your phone number separately. This "place holder" phone number will indicate to us that your phone number is incompatible with our form.
