The faculty of the Princeton Materials Institute, in collaboration with local school districts, Building Bridges to the Future, E=mc2, the Invention Factory Science Center,  and the Princeton Environmental Institute, are working with teachers to support and enhance innovative, inquiry-based science curricula being adopted by our regional school districts.  The project started in Spring 1999.
 
 
We started with a K-12 Science Education Workshop for PMI and PEI Scientists on Jan. 11, 1999. Our faculty experienced some of the exciting advances in pre-college science education.  This prepared them for . . . 
 

Teacher Support Activities

Beginning in March 1999, these included faculty "adopting" science inquiry kits; visiting classrooms; working with teachers to provide deeper knowledge of science content; suggesting additional resources; creating supplements, extensions, and primers for the kits; and being available for questions via email.
