Chinese
Ye Olde Fish n' Chips: Don't be fooled by the strange name, or by their awning, which still reads "Ye Olde Fish n' Chips." This little joint on Nassau Street (across from Thai Village) is run by a Taiwanese family, who make home-style Taiwanese food. Yes, they still serve fish n' chips, but the best food is their own. All dishes run $5-7 lunch or dinner. Some are really good. They also have a great selection of pearl tapioca teas.
Recommended dishes: Curried fish, Sin-gua with shrimp or tofu (in season), any lunch box. The soups, particularly the lobster bisque and the clam chowder, are also very tasty, although obviously not Chinese. Also try the tapioca tea (plain tea or green tea is best, coconut is also good), hot or cold.
IvyGarden: 238 Nassau Street, very good Chinese food, slightly more formal than Tiger Noodles
Tiger Noodles: 260 Nassau Street. Good noodle soups, fried calamari, and shrimp dumplings.
