Interactive Campus History Project

What It Is

Much of the information behind the project is accessible via the Web. Here is the home page for the Interactive Campus History Project. It is a part of the University's 250th Anniversary Celebration. We're building a "virtual reality" version of the Princeton University campus, where you'll be able to pick any point in time, and walk through the campus as it existed at that time, and learn about the architectural and cultural history of campus, and the various buildings. One goal of the project is to have a few publicly accessible Silicon Graphics workstations on campus where people can interact with the program to learn about the rich architectural history of our campus.

Here's a taste of what it looks like:

VRML World!

If you have a VRML browser (e.g. CosmoPlayer), take a look at a simple model of the campus, derived from the database we're using for the project. Each building is a hot link to an information page about that building. We only have just over half of the buildings on campus actually modelled so far. Stay tuned for updates!
