Teaching Position - Jishou, China
1 position available teaching English at a Teachers College in Hunan Province. Jishou is a small city in a relatively remote part of Hunan famed for its natural beauty, spicy food, ethnic minority groups and historical significance. PiA Fellows here have the unique opportunity to work with minority students and to make a real difference in helping to train the next generation of local Chinese English teachers in subjects such as Listening, Pronunciation, Writing, and Literature. Subsidized campus apartments are provided by the University free of charge, as well as generous vacation time (6 weeks over the teaching year, including a long Winter Break between semesters). There are very few foreigners in town, and this is a full-immersion experience. This is a place in which PiA Fellows become integral parts of a small, welcoming community.
Teaching Position - Wuhan, China
1 position available teaching English at a Polytechnic University in Hubei Province. The capital city, Wuhan, is an industrial city with a large student population that has seen rapid change of late. Wuhan's climate is challenging due to its hot summers and cold winters, but it is also a city famous for its good food, underground music scene, and diverse nightlife. Past PiA Fellows have taught classes in spoken and written English, as well as Film, to undergraduate and graduate students. On-campus apartments are provided and subsidized by the University, and generous vacation time is granted (amounting to roughly 6 weeks throughout the year, including one longer Winter Break).
