Application Process: Timeline and Materials

Fall Semester

Princeton in Latin America will hold an information session in October each year and will also have a presence at various career fairs around campus. Additionally, we will hold informal talks by returning Fellows, who will be able to answer applicants’ questions about their experiences.

Dates for these events will be posted in September.

Application Deadline

Deadline for 2010-11 fellowships will be December 11, 2009. Download an application here.

Before then, you are welcome to visit the PiLA office to ask any questions about the applications process, about what it means to be a PiLA fellow, and to find out more about the various positions. Fall office hours are: Mon-Wed 9:30am-11:30am and 12pm-1pm and Thurs 1:30pm-3pm.

The application consists of an essay, in which you should describe your Latin American experiences, interest in non-profit/service/public policy work, and why you are interested in spending a year in a Latin American country; a resume, a letter of recommendation, college transcripts, including semester abroad, and the application fee.

Please note that while we do not reject applicants who have little Spanish, our program, because of the work you will be doing, emphasizes solid language skills. However, our new Teaching positions do not require fluency; you should make note of your interest in those on the applications forms.
