______WHAT IS ______
PRINCETON SUMMER THEATER?
Princeton Summer Theater is the Princeton community's premiere summer repertory theater company. Located on the Princeton University campus in
the historic Hamilton Murray Theater, PST has been bringing exceptional live theater to audiences of all ages at affordable prices since 1968.
Each year, the Princeton Summer Theater season includes four mainstage productions featuring its company of young professionals. Two children's
shows and a series of Young Artist Workshops engage families and students from the community. This year Princeton Summer Theater hosted a Young Playwright's
Contest, with winners seeing their plays produced on the Hamilton Murray Stage.
After a successful and critically acclaimed 2009 season, Princeton Summer Theater looks forward to next summer. For those hoping to involve themselves in
our 2010 season, information about employment, internships, and donations can be found on this website throughout the year.
BY CAR
From the North/East
From the New Jersey Turnpike heading south, take Exit 9 (New Brunswick) and follow signs for Trenton (Route 18 north, then Route 1 south). For first-timers, navigating to Route 1 south from this exit can be difficult. Take the first right after the toll booths, up the ramp and onto to 18 north. Immediately, shift to lane second from left and, less than half a mile from entry point, exit left (you'll be heading over a Route 1 overpass). Stay in right lane the exit to Route 1 south is on your right just beyond the overpass. For directions to campus and parking from Route 1, see below.
From the South/West
From Interstate 95 heading north from DC/Philadelphia, cross Scudder Falls Bridge into New Jersey (Interstate 95 becomes Interstate 295 several miles into NJ), and exit at Route 1 North (exit 67). For directions to campus and parking from Route 1, see below.
From I-95/206 North
Another option from I-95 North is Route 206 North. Following Route 206 North, travel through Lawrenceville to Princeton. Where Route 206 meets Route 27, head right onto Nassau Street, the town's main street. If you are coming from southern New Jersey, we recommend that you take I-295 North (instead of the NJ Turnpike), exiting at Route 1 North.
From Route 1 (North or South)
Exit at Washington Road (Route 571). If traveling on Route 1 North, make a left onto Washington Road; if traveling on Route 1 South, make a right onto Washington Road. Continue on Washington Road over a bridge, through one light, up a hill, and through two more lights. The next light is the intersection of Washington Road and Nassau St. (Route 27).
PARKING
There is generally no parking available on the Princeton campus. Free off-campus parking near the theater is available in the parking lot behind 185 Nassau Street after 5pm and on weekends. Parking on Williams Street is metered from the morning until 7pm all days except Sunday. Metered parking is also available on Nassau St., and there is a parking garage on Chambers St. near Palmer Square. Short-term parking next to the theater is available for patrons with difficulty walking. If you do need handicap parking please call our Box Office and press prompt #3.
