YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS CONTEST

This year, for the first time ever, Princeton Summer Theater hosted the YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS CONTEST. Five lucky writers saw their plays performed in a free, open to the public show on Wednesday, August 12 at 7:00pm.

CONTEST RULES

  • Any student who is entering ninth grade – twelfth grade is eligible to submit to Princeton Summer Theater 2009’s First Annual Young Playwrights’ Contest.

  • Applicants may submit only one play. The play must be no more than fifteen (15) minutes in length.

  • Submissions must be delivered to the PST 2009 Box Office at the Hamilton Murray Theater (for directions, click here) or sent via email to princetonsummertheater@gmail.com by 6:00pm on Friday, July 31, 2009.

  • The jury will consist of members of the PST 2009 Company and Executive Board.

  • Although hard copy entries will not be returned, critical feedback may be furnished by the jury at the request of the young playwright.

  • Five submissions will be selected by the jury to be performed by members of the Company and Executive Board at the free, open to the public Young Playwrights’ Exhibition on Wednesday, August 12 at 7:00pm. Results will be posted at [wherever the heck this page is going] by August 7, 2009.

  • No limitation is imposed on the content of the play. However, the use of material not appropriate for all audiences may affect the selection of that play for exhibition to all audiences.
