  • Friends of Tiger Band

Friends of Tiger Band is the official organization for all PUB alums and supporters; members generally receive a paper mailing several times each year.

Members of the Band automatically become members of Friends of Tiger Band upon graduation. Alumni supporters of the Band who weren't Band members are also welcome to become members of the FOTB. We also welcome parents of current and former Band members, and other members of the public who wish to support the Band. To join, contact FOTB President Jonathan Mendelson '97 at mendelsn@alumni.princeton.edu or at: Friends of Tiger Band, c/o Jonathan D. Mendelson, 248 Walker Drive, Unit 5, Mountain View CA 94043 (phone 650-938-8170).

Alums at Football, Fall '98 If the paper FOTB mailings don't seem to be reaching you and you are an alumnus, first make sure the University's Alumni Records folks have your current paper mail address. (E.g. does the Princeton Alumni Weekly reach you? If necessary, update your address with Alumni Records.) If that's not the problem, contact Jonathan Mendelson '97.

The Friends of Tiger Band was reorganized in 1998 to have a Graduate Board, led by FOTB President Jonathan Mendelson '97. The FOTB acts to further the Band's interests through leadership, networking, communication, and fundraising. Drummers Alumni at Reunions '98 Its most visible functions include hosting Band Reunions following the Home Big Three game and the P-Rade, and publishing the FOTB newsletter. Equally-important are its financial support of many of the Band's capital needs, and its support of the Band officers in dealings with the University administration. Most recently, the FOTB established the Princeton University Band Endowment, intended to ensure financial security for the Band for many years to come.

If you wish to become more actively involved in the FOTB's activities, or wish to serve on the Graduate Board, please contact Jonathan Mendelson '97. The Graduate Board meets annually during Reunions; all FOTB members are welcome and encouraged to participate in the board meeting.

More information about the Friends of Tiger Band is available from the FOTB web site.

    Electronic Mailing Lists

The pu-band-alums electronic mailing list is available to all members of Friends of Tiger Band. This mailing list carries information and discussion of general interest to Band alums. In particular, this is where you'll find announcements, so you'll know when you'll find the Band on TV, in The National Enquirer, etc. During football season, subscribers sometimes receive copies of the weekly halftime (and pregame) show scripts. And subscribers receive the special name and password needed to access some Band web pages which are restricted to members of the Band and Friends of Tiger Band.

Alumni at Reunions '98 The pu-band-random electronic mailing list is available to all current PUB members and members of Friends of Tiger Band. It is dedicated to the propagation of Randomness and Gross Jokes. This list is occasionally high-volume, and is not for the squeamish, easily-offended, or faint of heart.

Subscription to the electronic mailing lists isn't automatic; to subscribe to them, send email to jathomps@princeton.edu , specifying that you wish to subscribe to pu-band-alums, pu-band-random, or both.

If you're not sure whether you have already subscribed to either list, you can check the current list of subscribers for pu-band-alums and pu-band-random.

Alumni at Basketball (Spring '98) The University also sponsors a number of electronic mailing lists for Princeton alumni as part of TigerNet; visit their site for details. Free email accounts and email forwarding services are also available to alumni via TigerNet.

Notestein Hall); we'll be there following the P-Rade (3:30-6:00pm), rain or shine. Join us for refreshments and catch up with other PUB alumni, meet the latest generation wearing plaid, and enjoy photo albums from the days of yore.

[Class of '84, Reunions '99] [Alumni at Band Reunion, Reunions '99] [Class of '94, Reunions '99]
Since 1998, the Band Reunion has been "reborn" to appeal to a wider range of PUB alumni. Now sponsored by the FOTB, the reunion's expanded amenities and new location has made it a popular hangout. Following P-Rade '99, our tent in front of Cannon Club played host to plaid alums, family, and friends from the Classes of '84 (above left), '94 (above right), and many others.

    Photo Album

You can find photos of recent PUB alumni throughout the Photo Album. As a special bonus for our alumni, here are some additional Faces of the Eighties, and Faces of the Nineties. (Faces of the Seventies is coming in the future.) And be sure to check out photos from our 75th Birthday.

Also of interest: photos of the construction of Princeton Stadium.

    Home Pages & Email Addresses

Here's a list of online PUB alumni and supporters. People usually aren't added automatically; to add/update your own home page and/or email address, send email to puband@princeton.edu, specifying that you should be added to the Web list of PUB alumni/supporters.

The University also maintains an online directory of alumni email address and home pages as part of TigerNet; visit their site for details.
