The Turkey of the Year is presented annually to the Princeton Band member who, while involved in a Band activity, acted most like a Turkey. The winner is selected by the Band Council, and is presented with the Turkey, which is on permanent display in the Band Office. His or her name joins those of all the previous recipients inscribed on the Turkey.

Any Band member is eligible to be named Turkey; Band members can bring possible nominations to Band Council members in the weeks before the Band Banquet. (Nominations generally must be accompanied by an description of just how the person has qualified for the award.) The winner (and runner-ups) are announced at the Band Banquet, along with the qualifications, for the enjoyment (and derision) of the Band.
