1.) Engage you:
This must be a two-way partnership —we officers pledge to make getting involved in College Dems more fun and accessible by actively reaching out to you, but we need you to get involved when the opportunity arises! We also want you to feel confident that when you come to a meeting or contact us with your ideas, your participation will be warmly welcomed and it will not be an awkward, intimidating or unfriendly experience.
2.) Build our power and connections:
College Democrats should serve as a leader of progressive groups on campus, and act as the collective liberal voice. To that end, we must be visible and articulate in the campus press (from the Daily Prince to campus publications such as Princeton Progressive Nation, American Foreign Policy, etc), as well as connect with like-minded student groups to further our common goals and projects. Also, we want to use our pooled resources and connections to create networking opportunities that can help further a career in politics/public service.
3.) Grow our organization to prepare for the ’08 election:
To be able to achieve our goals—registering new voters, engaging in issue advocacy, bringing in big-name speakers, and most of all, putting a Democrat in the White House--we’ll need to be more organizationally efficient, double the size of our e-mail list, and enlarge our capacity. This will be achieved through vigorous outreach and membership-building campaigns, decentralization and standardization of internal procedures--and lots of hard work!
