Competitions
Princeton University Intercollegiate Competition:
We often host an intercollegiate competition as part of the East Coast Collegiate Conference. The competition, featuring students from various East Coast colleges and universities, consists of singles, dance, and team maneuvers events. For more infromation about the competition, see the events section.
Other intercollegiate competitions:
Other competition in the East Coast Collegiate series include the University of Delaware, Boston University, and MIT. Please see the events section for results from the past year.
Shows
Each year the PUFSC hosts an annual Figure Skating Show and a winter exhibition. The show includes individual performances, group numbers, and an exhibition by the Synchronized Skating Team. The event is well attended and serves as one of our biggest fundraisers. Past shows have included, Got Ice, Hooked on a Feeling, Ice Ice Baby, and Y 2 sKate. For more information, see the shows section, and for pictures see the gallery.
Synchro
Our Synchronized Skating team is a group of skaters that perform on the ice together. Synchronized skating is a specialized branch of skating distinct from figures, free skating, ice dancing and pair skating. It involves teams of skaters (from twelve to twenty-four) performing a variety of types of footwork, group formations and skating maneuvers. Heads, legs, arms and bodies must be synchronized and in unison. Formations must be accurate; lines must be straight. We perform elements including kick lines, circles, pinwheels, and blocks. We have two hours of on-ice practice a week and one hour of off-ice practice. Check out our synchro section for more information!
Lessons
Princeton University offers beginner group lessons through the gym department. We have access to a private coach who can teach all level private lessons for freestyle, ice dancing, and moves in the field. Each individual skater must pay for these lessons. A local coach is available to partner skaters through ice dance tests.
