There were eight schools present at the meet - U Maryland, U Pen, Penn State, Johns Hopkins, Howard, Drexel, Lafayette College, and Princeton. In our match against Maryland, Pan Lin played Han Xiao (2545) in an exciting contest that featured loop-to-loop rallies among other things. Pan was up 2:1, 10-5 in the fourth game, but in a tremendous upset, Han Xiao managed to come back and win the match. Mike Hsu was the only one who managed to win his match against Maryland. Our overall result against Maryland was thus 1:3; U-Penn's was 0:4 (the doubles were not played due to time constraints). Our match against U-Penn was 2:2 in singles, so the deciding match went to the doubles, where Pan and Jason played against Casey and Shahab. This was a very intense match. Jason and Pan won 11-3 in the first game, but Casey and Shahab recovered in the next game, beating our team 11-6. In the end, the match went to the fifth game, where U-Pen won 11-9. The current standings in the division are: 1. Maryland, 2. U-Penn, 3. Princeton. The first two schools advance to the nationals, and the meet next semester will decide whether we make it or not.
