In April, Adam Hugh '09 represented the USA at the
2006 World Team Table Tennis Championships in Bremen, Germany.
Adam was selected to play against the national teams of India, Turkey, Wales, Singapore, and Nigeria, winning two and losing
four of his matches. The US men's team finished 43rd overall. The final was won by China over South Korea; Germany and Hong
Kong finished in third/fourth place.
Princeton's team placed second at the 2006 NCTTA championships, held on April 8-10
in Fort Worth, TX. Additionally, Adam Hugh took second place in ACUI singles, while Adam Hugh and Pan Lin
took third place in ACUI doubles. For more results and write-ups, see Texas Wesleyan's
NCTTA 2006 Championship Webpage.

On March 1, 2005, the NCTTA board passed a "wild card" motion, allowing the highest ranked
non-qualifying collegiate team to enter the 2005 NCTTA Championships. The Princeton University Table
Tennis Club objects to the timing and the manner in which this decision was made. We think that
it is bad policy to change the rules for the qualification to nationals at the end of the season,
after most meets have been played. We are also convinced that using the
"Top 25" list from November 21 to determine team rankings was arbitrary and unjustified.
The whole decision seems to have been made with the purpose of allowing one particular school to
attend the nationals, without setting clear and transparent criteria, and without informing NCTTA
member schools. We hope that the representatives of the NCTTA will be more thoughtful when making such
important decisions in the future.
Princeton lost 1-3 to U-Penn at the spring semester NCTTA Mid-Atlantic Division meet, with a very
tight match between Mike Hsu and Eric Leventhal. Some pictures, courtesy of Volker Schröder, are currently
available at www.princeton.edu/~volkers/PUTTC.
NCTTA results from both the fall and spring semester meets are posted at

The 2004 Princeton Open Table Tennis Tournament was held on October 31 in Dillon Gym.
We would like to congratulate Pan Lin from Princeton for winning the Open, Sid
Viswanathan from Monroe for winning the U-1600, and Iuliana Radu from Rutgers for
winning the Recreational! Thanks to everybody who participated - we hope to see
you again in the future.
Congratulations to our A-team NCTTA players Ram, Jason, Michael, Adam
and Xiaoqiang for their great performance during the 2003-04 NCTTA season. Princeton ended up with a 7-3 record in the Mid-Atlantic
Division, second place to U-Penn's 8-2. Our team came very close to winning the
division, and this is by far the best showing we have had in the recent couple
of years.
The Collegian, Penn State's campus newspaper,
writes about the NCTTA meet held on February 14, 2004 in University Park, PA. Among other things, Jason Cherry discusses his victory
over UPenn's Casey Ching.
A funny and rather spectacular TT video clip (2.38 MB).
Thanks to Adam Berman for this one.
