GROUP

Quipfire! is Princeton's best and only improv comedy group. We perform five sets of shows each year on campus, and also go on tour every intersession break. We've toured in such places as Los Angeles, Chicago, Hawaii, and Ganymede.

Quipfire! was formed in the thirteenth century by three Franciscan monks. Saint Brad, Saint Matthew, and Saint Jeffrey were bored with the ascetic lifestyles to which they had vowed, and so they decided to form a comedy troupe in the monastery. Unfortunately they themselves weren't very funny so they recruited some more monks. The original troupe, then called Kwiphyre! toured the monasteries of Europe and Asia doing shows for sold out audiences. Seven centuries and a few thousand miles away, Princeton's Quipfire! is continuing the tradition of the original group, dedicated to bringing church and lay folk alike barrels of spontaneous fun. Right now we are beginning plans for our one millenium anniversary (coming up in 2243) in which we hope to include a set of shows at the Vatican. But for right now, Quipfire! is merely here to make life at Princeton a little easier. . .
