This dataset was put together by Natalia Ramondo, Andres Rodriguez-Clare and Felix Tintelnot. The dataset contains comprehensive information on the bilateral activity of multinational firms, with focus on two variables: affiliate revenues and the number of affiliates across country pairs. The basic data are from UNCTAD and include 59 countries, an average over 1996-2001. An extrapolation procedure is used to fill in missing values using, alternately, foreign direct investment (FDI) stocks and the bilateral number of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions.
