This project augmented the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing survey data by abstracting information from the mother respondents’ medical records and those of their newborns, geocoding the mothers’ and fathers’ addresses at each wave and linking them to census tract-level characteristics, and appending the medical record and neighborhood data to the individual survey records. It created an unparalleled resource for addressing important questions about the health of children, particularly those in high-risk families.
