Army First Pass - Princeton v. Penn
On Nov. 6 2010, Princeton ROTC took part in Army First Pass ceremony of the 114th meeting between Princeton and Penn football. On hand was BG Mark Milley '80, a former hockey player and ROTC cadet who now serves as Deputy Director of Regional Operations, J-3, at the Pentagon. Army First Pass was started in order to honor our fallen veterans and current men and women serving overseas who continue to place their lives in harm's way while serving to protect our freedom. Like baseball's opening pitch, Army First Pass throws the "opening pass" before the start of competition. BG Milley threw the game ball to 2LT Peter Yorck '10, a former four-year Varsity football player and ROTC cadet, who in turn threw the ball to CDT Robert Basile '14, a current Varsity football player and ROTC Cadet. Comprising a ten man team made up of nine males and one female from Princeton, TCNJ, and Rowan universities, our team did exceptionally well both historically speaking and in the competition itself. Having not placed in the top ten in well over a decade or two, the Princeton team not only placed 3rd in the Darby Division of Schools, but also placed 9th out of 24 overall teams that were competing in that weekend from Northeast Schools.
