Andrée Aelion Brooks is a journalist, author and lecturer. Her newest book is "The Woman who Defied Kings: the life and times of Dona Gracia Nasi, a Jewish leader during the Renaissance" (Paragon House, 2002).

Prior to that she produced a multi-media educational program for children called "Out of Spain" (Hitchcock Books, 2000) now being used in over 200 supplementary and day schools.

She has received a special award from the Consulate General of Israel in conjunction with the American Sephardi Federation for her work in Sephardic Jewish History. She also the recipient of an outstanding achievement award from the National Federation of Press Women for her news writing at the New York Times.

Brooks is an Associate Fellow at Yale University and the founder and first president of the Women’s Campaign School at Yale. She is also the author of “Children of Fast Track Parents" (Viking, 1989).
