Several libraries use KMK440 for works on the influence of Mishpat Ivri
(a.k.a. halacha, a.k.a. Jewish law) on the Israeli
system. It is suggested to use KMK469.5 instead. The logic is that
Jewish law isn't so much a doctrine or unique aspect of Israeli law, as
it is a customary or religious systems that is being partially "received"
(legalese for "adopted") by the overall system. This parallels how we treat
similar works on the adoption of Islamic or Customary law in other countries
using that schedule where a similar issue (colonial-derived law versus
ancestral law) is presented. I pasted the page from the
schedule below. Also the first heading should be: "Law--Israel--Jewish
influences"
rather than "Jewish law" (which will class in KBM whenever we get itwritten).
