Recommendations for the establishment of the uniform title for Ne'ilah:.
One should include in the citation from the EJ the reference
to the full name, "ne'ilat she'arim" and make a ref
from this form. One should also have a ref through the
larger liturgical work of which the Ne'ilah is a part, namely a
ref from
"Mahzor. Yom Kippur. Ne'ilah" (subscript dot under 1st h).
The citation from the EJ justifies this ref.
It is agreed that the "ne'ilah" is distinct from the "'Arvit".
NOTE: in this as in all cases we use an apostrophe
(if not as an apostrophe) to represent the
'ayin diacritic.
Bear in mind the passage
in *Hebraica cataloging* (p. 15) that instructs us
to use the 'ayin diacritic to transcribe the symbol
used for this in the Encyclopedia Judaica,
even though the latter really looks more like an alef
diacritic.
