Our Aim
Why Interfaith Dialogue?
Why Rumi?
Our Aim
To develop a medium for dialogue among people of different cultures and
religions.
To awaken awareness about different cultures and religions and to
eradicate misunderstanding due to lack of information.
To point out the common aspects among religions and cultures.
Why Interfaith Dialogue?
We want to focus on Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue. We believe that
there is a need for such a club in the university. Although most of us know our
cultures and religions fair enough, we don't know much about other faiths and
cultures. This lack of knowledge might cause a lot of misunderstanding and
unnecessary tension. We believe that this problem can be solved through
dialogue. We hope that peace in the world is closer when people know each other
better. Ours will be a humble attempt for this reason.
Why Rumi?
We chose the name "Rumi" for our club because Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi
(Mowlana Jalaluddin Rumi) is a symbol figure for these purposes. We are
motivated by Rumi's well known message and call for love, humanity and peace.
The following verses summarize what we mean:
"Come, Come again
Whoever you are
Whether you are infidel, idolater or wanderer
Whether you have broken your vows a hundred times
Ours is not a caravan of despair
This is the gate of hope
Come, come yet again, come"
