President -- Oversee the operation of all facets of the organization including events, meetings, committees, etc. -- Serve as a conduit to the board for opportunities for events, projects, that further the goals of SASA -- Set agenda for meetings of the Board and moderate discussion -- Organize elections for new Board in January (if not running)
Secretary -- Record and distribute minutes from all Board meetings -- Schedule and arrange meetings of the Board as directed by the President -- Act as historian for SASA, documenting activities of the current Board
Treasurer -- Manage all financial aspects of SASA in an organized and timely fashion -- Maintain accurate records of all income and disbursements for the current Board. Be able to provide reports to the Board upon request. -- Oversee fundraising efforts (Projects' Board proposals, requests to departments, etc.) -- Ensure that Board members are reimbursed in a timely manner
Social Chair -- Plan and organize events that bring the South Asian community at Princeton together (i.e study breaks, movie nights, dinner trips, dances, etc.) -- Plan and organize outreach efforts to both current and prospective students.
Publicity Chair -- Ensure that SASA events are well publicized to both SASA members and University community -- Design and produce posters, newspaper ads and other publictiy for SASA events -- Maintain the SASA e-mail lists, and use them as necessary inform SASA members about relevant event
Academic/Cultural Chair -- Plan and organize events (i.e. speakers, dinner discussions, film series, etc.) that serve to increase awareness among SASA members and the University community about South Asian culture (politics, religion, literature, arts, etc.) -- Organize committee of interested SASA members with the goal of promoting South Asian studies at Princeton University. Oversee efforts to increase regular course offerings, hire new faculty, and eventually establish a permanent program in South Asian Studies at Princeton.
Webmaster -- Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date, fast-loading, effective, and colorful website at http://www.princeton.edu/~sasa. -- Work with Publicity Chair to use this site to increase visibility of SASA and its events on campus -- Oversee functioning of "Desis" list-serve
Festival Chair -- Plan and organize Spring Cultural Show and Fall Banquet/Festival. Oversee/delegate reserving of spaces, obtaining performers, publicity, decorations, food, etc. -- Assist Social Chair and Acadmic/Cultural Chair with the organization of other large special events
Graduate Student Liason -- Involve Princeton's South Asian graduate population in SASA activities -- Advertise SASA activities in graduate residential areas (the Graduate College, and other graduate apartments on campus) -- Plan and organize activities that may be of specific interest to graduate South Asians on campus, such as discussions/speakers on current political events concerning South Asians
Freshman Council -- Each freshman gets assigned to an above position and performs some of the same duties. They will take the positions of the old members the next year.
